A-Beta-CarE: Your best defense against Free Radicals

Bill Lewis, Vice President of Operations

What Are Free Radicals?

Imagine a group of skydivers linked together in a free-falling formation, getting ready to open their parachutes. Hurtling at a rapid pace toward them is another group of skydivers, however they are missing their 'chutes. In an attempt to save themselves from a free fall, they link on to the group with parachutes. This leaves the group unbalanced and fighting for the parachutes.

The skydivers without parachutes are like "free radicals", or damaged molecules missing an electron, which then crash into stable molecules in an attempt to re-stabilize themselves. When an initial free radical takes an electron from another molecule, this second molecule is left unbalanced; thereby setting off a chain reaction that can repeat a million or more times daily. This continuous oxidation process damages proteins and cell membranes, compromises cells' natural defenses, disrupts cells' genetic DNA, and makes the body more susceptible to various diseases. Free radicals also contribute to the aging process by causing cells to become inefficient, mutated or may even cause the cells to die.

What Can Be Done?

Although free radical oxidation cannot be eliminated, there are certain antioxidant nutrients that can keep the process from running haywire throughout the body. These nutrients sacrifice themselves to "satisfy" free radicals before they damage cellular structures. Among the best antioxidant nutrients are vitamin E, beta-carotene (vitamin A) and Selenium.

Forever A-Beta-CarE is an essential formula combining vitamins A (beta-carotene) and E, plus the antioxidant mineral, Selenium. Antioxidants are vital in the fight against free radicals (chemical molecules that arise from pollutants in the body and damage healthy cells).

Vitamin A plays an important role in vision, bone growth, reproduction, and cell division. It helps maintain the surface linings of the eyes and the respiratory, urinary, and intestinal tracts. Forever A-Beta-CarE is a specially formulated nutritional supplement that supplies vitamin A to the body in beta-carotene form. The body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A in the small intestine during digestion or when it is needed, leaving a low risk of vitamin A overdose (which can be toxic when taken alone in large doses). Beta-carotene is also a recognized antioxidant, making it an ideal companion for vitamin E and Selenium. Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, is an excellent supplement for healthy skin. It also protects vitamin A and essential fatty acids from oxidation in the body cells and prevents breakdown of body tissues. Studies show that vitamin E promotes a healthy heart and circulatory system. In addition, vitamin E aids in preventing bad cholesterol (LDL) from converting into an even worse type of cholesterol (oxidized LDL) that can cause serious circulatory problems.

Selenium is a trace mineral and is one of the most powerful antioxidant nutrients known to work synergistically with both vitamin E and beta-carotene. It is beneficial in maintaining healthy skin, hair and good eyesight. Recent research shows that Selenium is important to men's health. This combination of nutrients, available all in one convenient product, is one of the most important complements to good health.
